What's included
- Technical SEO audits and fixes (indexation, site architecture, migrations)
- Local SEO for businesses targeting Sheffield, Yorkshire and the surrounding areas
- GA4 and Google Search Console setup and reporting
- Looker Studio dashboards giving you real visibility, not raw exports
- Ongoing monitoring and optimisation
Who it's for
Businesses who've had SEO 'done', but feel they are seeing no clear result, or businesses who are migrating or rebuilding their website and can't afford to lose their existing search rankings in the process. Particularly relevant if you're competing for search visibility across Sheffield and Yorkshire. It also covers what's changed in search itself, including how to get cited in AI search, not just the traditional rankings. Not sure where to start? Our free website audit gives you a clear, no-obligation read on the technical and on-page basics first.
What's the difference between reporting on website traffic and reporting on results?
Most SEO reporting stops at the numbers that are easiest to collect, such as how many people visited your site this month or where you rank for a handful of keywords. These are often called 'vanity metrics' because they look healthy on the surface, but they tell you very little about whether your website is actually bringing in work. Traffic can rise while enquiries stay flat, and a ranking can climb for a search term that none of your customers ever type.
It's much more useful to ask questions about what happens after someone arrives on your site and analyse that data: did they enquire, book, buy or call? If so, which page, search or campaign brought them there? Answering these questions relies on Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Search Console being set up correctly from the start, with your enquiries and bookings tracked as conversions so that they are counted and not just assumed. We then bring those numbers together in a Looker Studio dashboard, so you can see what's working in one place without digging through a raw export or waiting for someone to put a report together for you. That is what we mean by building an honest picture, and it's usually the information that's missing when SEO has been 'done' but doesn't seem to be working.
How do we set up SEO and analytics for your site?
Audit
We start by looking at where your site stands today. Our free website audit is a good first step you can take before we've even spoken. It shows us which issues to fix first, so that time is spent on what will make the biggest difference to you.
Technical foundations
Fixing issues uncovered by the audit. This can be anything from pages Google isn't indexing to the structure of your site, as well as any risks from a planned migration or rebuild. It is important to address this first, because nothing built afterwards will perform well unless these foundations are strong.
Tracking and reporting
Setting up GA4, Search Console and a Looker Studio dashboard, with your enquiries and bookings tracked as conversions. This is so that every number we report back to you is one you can trust.
Local SEO
If your customers are local, we add local search work for Sheffield, Yorkshire or wherever you trade, including your Google Business Profile, to ensure that you show up for people searching nearby.
Ongoing monitoring
Keeping an eye on rankings, indexing and conversions month to month, and making changes as search itself changes. You'll have access to your dashboard at all times, so you never have to ask how things are going.
SEO and analytics work for
What affects the cost of ongoing SEO and analytics work?
We scope ongoing SEO and analytics around your site and what you want it to achieve, rather than working from a package. These are the factors that shape it most, and we'll talk you through which of them apply to you before anything is agreed:
Size of your site
A ten-page site takes far less monitoring and fixing than one with hundreds of pages, service areas or products.
Migration or rebuild
Moving to a new domain or rebuilding a site is when rankings are most at risk, so it requires closer attention while it happens.
Number of locations
Each location you want to be found in needs its own local SEO, and more locations means more work to stop them competing with each other in search.
The state of your tracking
Starting with no tracking at all is often quicker than untangling an existing setup that has been reporting the wrong numbers.
How competitive your market is
Ranking for searches that a handful of local businesses compete for takes less sustained work than a market where dozens are chasing the same terms.
What do we use to track and report on your site?
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to track what visitors do once they reach your site, and Google Search Console to see how your site appears in Google search and to catch indexing problems early. Looker Studio then brings both together in a dashboard you can check whenever you like, without needing to log in to each tool separately or know your way around them. All three are free Google tools, so there is no extra software cost passed on to you for the reporting itself.
Not sure what's happening with your traffic?
Run our free website audit for a quick read on the basics, or get in touch and we'll talk it through with you - there's no cost and no obligation either way.
Why do we run SEO as an ongoing service and not a one-off audit?
A one-off audit tells you what was wrong with your site on the day it was run. While it can be useful as a quick insight, it doesn't reveal the full picture because SEO doesn't stay fixed once it has been corrected. Pages drop out of Google's index, a plugin update breaks something in the background, or a competitor publishes something better, and everything changes. Equally, Google changes how it ranks and displays results several times a year, including the AI-generated answers that now appear above the usual results for many searches, meaning your site can quickly fall out of view. None of these factors announces themselves; most only become visible once your traffic or enquiries have already dropped.
That's why we set SEO and analytics up as an ongoing service by default, with continued monitoring and optimisation so that problems are caught while they're small, and improvements keep building on each other. If a one-off audit is all you need for now, we're happy to do that too, and it's a good place to start if you'd like to see how we work before committing to anything longer term.
More from us at Millside Creative
If you'd like to see where your site stands before speaking to us, our free website audit checks the technical and on-page basics, and our AI visibility check shows whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews can read and cite your pages. For a single-location business, we've written about why your local business might not be showing up on Google and how to set up your Google Business Profile so that it works for you, and our free SEO tips for small businesses cover the improvements you can make yourself. If AI search is on your mind, our guide on how to get cited in AI search covers what makes a site easier for those tools to read and reference. And if you run more than one location, what twelve locations taught us about multi-location SEO goes into the problems that only show up at scale. If you're planning a change of domain, the No Regrets migration chapter explains how a brand name and domain were changed at the same time, and why we'd avoid a domain move wherever possible.
Proof point
Technical SEO and migration strategy run across a 12-location multi-site structure, including duplicate content, redirect chains and local visibility that doesn't work against itself.
FAQs
Common questions
We've already had SEO work done. What do you do differently?
A lot of SEO work stops at what are known as 'vanity metrics', like your online traffic or your keyword rankings. We go further by reporting on what happened to your conversions too, through proper GA4 and Search Console setup - as well as Looker Studio dashboards that show real visibility, not raw exports.
Can you migrate our site without losing our rankings?
Migrations are core to what we do, not a side service. That includes indexation management, canonicalisation and a redirect strategy handled specifically to protect existing rankings throughout the move.
Do you cover local SEO?
Yes, for businesses targeting Sheffield, Yorkshire and the surrounding area specifically, alongside the technical SEO work. You can see the towns we cover on our areas we cover page.
Is this a one-off audit or an ongoing service?
We offer both, but set this up as an ongoing service by default, with continued monitoring and optimisation instead of a single audit and handover.
