What it checks
What counts as technical SEO hygiene?
This covers the fundamentals - a well-sized title and meta description, a self-referential canonical tag, a reachable sitemap, HTTPS, and a reasonable server response time. None of it is exotic, it's the baseline most SEO tools check first, because a page that gets these wrong tends to struggle regardless of how good the content on it is.

What's on-page SEO, and why does it matter here?
On this page that covers heading structure, image alt-text coverage, a viewport tag, Open Graph and Twitter/X card tags, mixed content, redirect chains, www and non-www consistency, a real 404 page, security headers, and a favicon. Individually small, but they add up, and a site with several of these wrong tends to look less trustworthy to crawlers and to the occasional human who checks the page source.

What does the PageSpeed Insights panel show?
Exactly what Google's own PageSpeed Insights tool would show for the same URL: Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO scores out of 100, Core Web Vitals from both a simulated lab run and, where Google has enough real-visitor data, real-world field data, plus total page weight, request count, and the three biggest opportunities for improvement Lighthouse found.
These numbers are never mixed into a single Millside score - see them as Google's own reading of the page, timestamped and linked to the full pagespeed.web.dev report for the same URL. Roughly, Lighthouse treats a score of 90% or higher as good, 50-89% as needing improvement, and below 50% as poor - the same bands this page uses to colour each score. Core Web Vitals themselves (Largest Contentful Paint, Cumulative Layout Shift and Interaction to Next Paint) come from theW3C's own Web Vitals specification, not a Google-only definition.

Common questions
Is this the same as your AI Visibility Check tool?
No, different tool, different job. This one checks the things any website audit checks: PageSpeed Insights scores, technical SEO hygiene and on-page fundamentals, and it's free and fully open with nothing held back. Our AI Visibility Check is a separate, more specialised tool that checks specifically whether AI crawlers like GPTBot and ClaudeBot can reach, read and cite a page, which this audit only touches on briefly, in the one line at the end pointing at the fuller tool.
Why is the speed score shown separately, not blended into one number?
Because PageSpeed Insights' scores are Google's own, and we don't want to quietly change what they mean by folding them into a different number. What you see under Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO on this page is exactly what pagespeed.web.dev would show for the same URL, timestamped and linked back to the real report, not our interpretation of it.
Why did the speed check take longer than the rest?
A full Lighthouse run, which is what PageSpeed Insights does under the hood, takes up to 30 seconds because it loads the page in a real simulated browser and measures it rather than just reading the HTML. Everything else on this page, the hygiene and on-page checks, reads the page directly and comes back in a couple of seconds, which is why we show that first instead of making you wait for the slowest part.
What if I can't get a speed score at all?
Usually a timeout or an error from Google's API, not anything wrong with your site specifically. PageSpeed Insights occasionally can't complete a run, especially against slower or unusual hosting setups. Try again in a minute; if it keeps failing, that slow or unreachable pattern is itself worth knowing about.
Do I need to give an email address to see the results?
No. Every result on this page, hygiene, on-page and speed, is visible for free with no email required. That's deliberate: this is meant to be a quick, shareable check, not a lead form.
